Lydia > "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" -- Bertolt Brecht. The Studio, February 2000, age 14. Many parts, including (if you know the story) the Governer's Wife who is the original mother of the baby. This is me being a ... farmer or something. I honestly don't remember. The girl in the centre of the picture is the main character who is a crossing over a ravine on a precarious bridge.
Lydia > "A Little Hotel on the Side" -- Georges Feydeau. The Playhouse, January 2001, age 15. I played the eldest of four daughters, Violette. This photo, as all the Questors photos, was taken during a rehearsal -- so please forgive my navy blue socks when everyone else is in white! The play was a farce, and a lot of fun to do. It was the first "adult" show I'd done.
Lydia > "Runaways" -- Elizabeth Swados. The Playhouse, September 1998, age 12. I played Jackie, a child prostitute. The musical was like a collage of songs and speeches than a traditional musical, all centred around kids who have run away from home and live on the streets. My main (but not only) piece was called "Appendectomy", where I perform an operation on the doll you can see me brandishing. "Runaways" was my first show at Questors.
Lydia > A scene in the middle of "Runaways" -- the kids have all all gathered together to hold a sort of voodoo ceremony.
Lydia > A particular number that called for everyone to get into pairs and do a mock waltz around the stage. I'm peeking over my shoulder at a girl called Eloise. I can't remember her character's name, much to my shame! I'll look it up. Of the main cast, I was the youngest -- everyone else was 14-16. She was 16, and befriended me, the 12 year old, anyway. We were always sharing jokes.
