Lydia > "Nicholas Nickleby" -- Parts One & Two by Charles Dickens, adapted David Edgar. The Playhouse, April 2003, age 17. 6 parts (in order of appearance); Hannah (Mrs LaCreevy's maid), Snawley Minor (a little boy), Phib (the Squeers' maid), Morleena (Kenwigs' daughter), the Young Fiancee (fun one-off part, she's getting married to a really old guy) and the Infant Phenomenon (pictured in the frills!).
Lydia > Look at me act! The Infant Phenomenon, looking worried at the prospect of Nicholas (left) leaving. The woman in the centre is Mrs Crummles, the IP's highly theatrical mother.
Lydia > The opening narration scene of Part One. You can see me in my charming Hannah costume.
Lydia > Oh how I love photographers. This is me as Snawley Minor. The whole time I was sitting at that table with the other dialogue going on, I kept praying in my head, "Let him take the photo now... let him take it now, before I have to eat... pleeeeease, now... before I eat, now now now... running out of time, now... *goes to eat* *hears camera click* AWCRAP!" Mutter.
Lydia > Me as Snawley Minor again, this time at the Squeers' school, and thus stripped of my nice clothes and looking rather scared. You'll note all the other schoolboys were played by middle aged men. Mmhm.
Lydia > Me as Phib in the background, with the Squeers family in front. In the card scene I was in much the same position with the main action going on in front, but my reactions alone were getting laughs. I am a self-confessed scene stealer. I'll teach them to give me a small part!
Lydia > Morleena Kenwigs, at the family gathering. The woman to the far left is Mrs Kenwigs, then honoured Uncle Lillyvick (I think that's how you spell it anyway) and Mr Kenwigs. Morleena is supposed to be about 8. She was probably the most enjoyable of all my characters, and had the most to say and do.
Lydia > The finale for Part One, with us all singing.
Lydia > The Infant Phenomenon, getting drunk at a Crummles party. Again, that photographer had impeccable timing. Could I look more attractive if I TRIED?
